The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York On July 9-18, 2019 the United Nations Headquarters in New York hosted the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The Forum was attended by representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations from Azerbaijan. The Second National Voluntary Report of the Republic of Azerbaijan was successfully submitted and positively evaluated by the participating countries, the UN and other international organizations. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Mr. Ali Akhmedov made presentation on the report. On behalf of civil society, President of the Union of Disabled People Organizations of Azerbaijan Mr. Davud Rahimli presented proposals and took part in discussions in the Forum. Azerbaijan is represented by Davud Rahimli in the Stakeholder Group elected and formed from representatives from all over the world before the Forum. Two meetings of this group were held, organizational issues and future activities were discussed. We also discussed issues of cooperation with Director of the Division for Inclusive Social Development of UN DESA Ms. Daniela Bas, Mr. Oleg Serezin and other employees, and with UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Mr. Gulam Ishaqzai. We discussed the details of the decision to hold an international conference within the framework of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals this year in Baku.
