Dissemination Conference and Consortium Meeting at Ganja State University

On January 15, 2016, a meeting was held at Ganja State University for the “Establishment of a Foundation for the Integration of Disabled People into HEIs of Azerbaijan” (ESFIDIP) TEMPUS project. The meeting included a dissemination conference entitled “Break Obstacles and Open Doors for Education.” The main objective of the conference was to inform the public about the project and the current work being undertaken by local partner universities to prepare policies and establish Centers for Students with Disabilities and recruit more students üith disabilities to higher education institutions. Representatives from national partners in the project including Union of Disabled People Organization, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and six higher education institutions participated in the conference.
Several presentations were made at the conference to explain the project and its significance to Azerbaijani society. Rima Mammadova, project manager of the ESFIDIP TEMPUS project and coordinator of the Center for Students with Disabilities at Khazar University, also made a presentation about implementing European experience in this field into local universities, creation of centers for students with disabilities in local partner universities, and work that has been done to ensure strong dissemination and sustainability of the project.
On the following day, January 16, an administrative meeting of local project partners was held in Ganja State University’s conference hall. Participants in the meeting included Shamkhal Mammadov, instructor for the International Relations Department at Nakhchivan State University; Gulshan Valiyeva, representative of the International Affairs Department at Azerbaijan State Economics University; Turgay Huseynov, head of the International Partnership Office at Sumgayit State University; and Ruslan Mammadov, head of the International Affairs Office of Ganja State University. They discussed the project’s pilot program, training programs, and financial issues.
