26/5/2020 UDPO provided equipment to 4 women with disabilities

Lankaran city, May 26 2020

One of the important issues in our country is to reduce economic dependence of people with disabilities through providing them with employment, in order to improve their financial situation and to raise their self-confidence. For this reason, ensuring their self-employment is always under the focus of Azerbaijani Government and UN Development Programme in Azerbaijan, therefore this area is given significant support.

Taking into account the importance of this issue, the Union of Disabled People’s Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (UDPO) provided equipment to 4 women with disabilities in Lankaran in the fields of sewing, sweets bakery, beauty salon and computer services in order to set up and develop their small businesses. This support was provided within “Happy city accessible for all” project on creation of accessible environment for persons with disabilities and other persons with limited mobility in Lankaran city in the frame of the program “Promoting the Role of Civil Society in Gender-sensitive SDGs Implementation” funded by the European Union and partially funded and implemented by UN Development Programme.
